Blanching okra is great way to preserve summer`s bounty of fresh okra. By quickly steaming them and shocking in ice cold water to stop the cooking process, can easily preserve the freshness of the okra

Start prepping your okra for steaming by washing and removing the stems and bottom tips.
Bring a pot of water up to a boil.
Meanwhile, prepare an ice bath by placing a full tray of ice cubes in a bowl of water.
Place your prepped okra in the boiling water for about 5-7 seconds. Until the okra becomes a bright green color.
Remove from the water with a slotted spoon and place into your ice bath.
Remove the ice bath and place in strainer over a bowl to drain excess liquid.
Place the drain blanched okra in a gallon freezer bag and store in the freezer until needed.
