3 Days of Spices ~ Day 3 Mace

Mace is the dried fibrous covering of the nutmeg shell. Naturally bright red, the mace become brown once it is dried.

Once dried the aroma of mace becomes stronger and more potent. Then it is ground into a powder that we now call mace.

You can use a small piece of mace to add in a deep nutmeg flavor to cooked meals or drinks such as porridges or cocoa tea. Remember, mace is potent, so you only need a small small small piece.
