Dehydrated apples are a great item to add to your dried fruit stash. These dehydrated apples are crunchy and slightly chewy and the best part is that you can make them at home. The great thing about this recipe is that the only ingredient you need is apples, that means no added sweeteners or preservatives. You get that true and pure apple flavor in each bite.
These dehydrated apples are so tasty that I chopped some up and threw them in a vanilla cake. Delicious…
I have wanted to try dehydrated apples for the longest time and I just never got around to it. Procrastinating… I know. What really give a push in that direction is a discount. I know right, a sale tends to do that.

At my local Kroger I found some discounted pink lady apples in the sale shelf at the grocery section. There was about 3-4 pink lady apples in a red mesh bag for $0.99. Surprised… I know right…. now that is what I consider a steal and a super super deal. You know I brought about 4-5 bags, leaving some for the next person who loves apples as much I do. Now every time I go to Kroger I always check the discount section. I have been able to find some granny smiths, my favorite type of apples.
The dehydrating time will differ depending how thick or thin you cut your apples. I cut mines pretty thin and dehydrate at 140 degrees for 8 hours, rotating the trays every 30 minutes to an hour.
I used lime water to wash my apples. After I peeled the off all the apple skin I left the apples in a bowl of water with a whole key lime squeezed in to prevent browning.
