Tahini Coffee with Almond Milk

Start your week off right with a hot mug of this delicious Tahini Coffee with Almond Milk. Imagine the taste of creamy nutty tahini mixed with strong espresso coffee, balanced out with a generous pour of almond mix and sweetened with evaporated cane juice (panela). A dash of cinnamon powder adds spice and flavor.

For sweeteners, we are using panela – evaporated cane juice. The panela adds sweet molasses notes that is so comforting and brings in the cozy winter vibes.

3 Ways To Process Panela

To melt the panela, the first thing you are going to do is stir together the grated panela and a few drops of hot espresso in your coffee mug to create a thick coffee syrup. This technique is called “espumita” and it is when the frothy sweet highlight of Cuban Coffee (Café Cubano).

We are using 1 1/2 cups of rich espresso in each cup. I personally use an Espresso Maker or moka maker to make my coffee. My 3-cup classic moka maker was a gift from my aunt and make rich espresso in minutes.

I remember I was so fascinated with how the espresso would “magically” come up to the top portion of the moka maker. At the time, I could not realize how the espresso could make it to the top when the water goes into the bottom portion. Once you follow the manufactures instructions for using your espresso maker, you will be making your own homemade espresso in no time.

Equipment

  • 11 fl oz Coffee Mug
  • Espresso Maker

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cup Espresso Coffee
  • 1 tsp Brown Sesame Seed Tahini
  • 3 tbsp Grated Panela
  • ¼ tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • ½ cup Almond Milk

Instructions
 

  • In your mug combine grated panela and a few drops of hot coffee. Mix together until the panela has melted.
  • Stir in tahini.
  • Add in cinnamon powder, the rest of the coffee, and finish with almond milk.
  • Enjoy 🙂
