This raw cabbage slaw is the perfect way to use as a delicious homegrown fresh head of cabbage. Paired with green onions and coconut oil, the natural taste of homegrown cabbage is elevated here.
Summer is on the way and that means fresh produce out of the door. The zucchini in the garden is growing at a alarming rate, but I am so happy because that means I can make my Zucchini Pasta, Marinated Zucchini, and my Tomato and Zucchini Sauté using fresh zucchini from the garden
Now enough about the garden, the growing zucchini, and all the zucchini recipes. Let us talk about what you really came here for – cabbage.
For some recipes, you only need a few simple ingredients and let them do their thing. I was so happy to make this recipe using a head of homegrown cabbage from my Uncle`s garden (shoutout to my Uncle for grown such amazing heads of cabbage).
Here is a simple but delicious recipe for the versatile cabbage. This is my favorite way to eat homegrown cabbage. As fresh and raw as possible.
You will only 4 ingredients: cabbage, green onions, warm coconut oil, and sea salt.
Raw Cabbage Slaw
Ingredients
- Half of Green Cabbage
- 3 TB Coconut Oil WARM
- 3-4 Green Onions
- Sea Salt
Instructions
- Start by washing cabbage and cutting finely into thin slices. Finely chop your green onions. Toss the cabbage and chopped green onions together in a bowl.
- Pour in your warm coconut oil and mix in well.
- Add in sea salt at serving time (the salt causes the cabbage to wilt and release liquid if left sitting, so we only salt when ready to serve)
You can serve this slaw as a crisp refreshing side dish, on tacos or sandwiches, in wraps, or alongside beans with rice. Think a salad, but cabbage.
